A Journey through the airwaves
Hello, I am in the process of moving blogging platforms to WordPress. It will take me a bit of time to restore my older posts!
I have some exciting projects in progress that I will be sharing over the next few days.

I have just published a short video on how I setup for powering my portable ham radio station.
The video above does not go into great detail about how important a revolution the LiFePo4 battery is. These batteries have around twice the energy density of a Lead Acid battery. They have a flat voltage discharge curve and they can be recharged around 2500 times. LiFePo4 batteries are more expensive and require a different charging system they are revolutionary for portable operations.
This system is larger than I would need for a POTA activation or the like. It is intended to be setup for longer term deployments, with multiple radios and more.

I have been “messing about” with the Raspberry Pi for a couple of years now. One of the great uses for the Pi is general-purpose computing for small scale projects. One of those projects is Amateur Radio. Most of our application needs for a dedicated station computer work well on the Pi. Here is my second Youtube video on my portable ham station:
In this video I show how to setup the Pi from scratch and install a system of managing Ham Radio applications on the Pi.
Many Thanks to fellow Youtube publishers who have helped me out along the way here.

As I have mentioned I started a YouTube Channel for my Amateur Radio projects. The first project is the construction of a portable HF station. The first couple of videos are “in the can” as they say. There will be more over time.
My YouTube channel is here:

Here is the first video in my portable station series:
I am getting close to the final station setup. Yesterday we had some fun testing, and I am making some minor changes to how the station will fit together. Here is a short video from yesterday’s operation and testing.
Hope you all are enjoying Amateur Radio and taking some time for your hobby.
73 for now, KE9A
Today I setup my G90 outside on the patio and played radio for parts of the day. Well computers and radio! I helped a friend update his G90 to the latest firmware. We did some basic testing of a magnetic loop antenna for portable use!
I found out what the problem with my big loop antenna was! I have a bad lightning arrestor. Polyphaser here I come.
As I write this I am doing the final uploads to my new YouTube Channel of two videos about how I am building my Portable Ham Radio Station!
A good day.
